Telescope: Tele Vue-NP101 APO

All bird images were taken by Mr. George Watson through a Tele Vue-NP101 with Tele Vue eyepieces and a consumer digital camera.

The long eye-relief designed into many of Tele Vue's eyepieces allows for afocal imaging with minimum vignetting. This system of "afocal" imaging is a convenient way to take telephoto images with cameras that have non-interchangeable lenses.

Mr. Watson praises the photographic capabilities of the TV-NP101: "The birds haven’t always looked this good. Over the past several years I’ve purchased several different telescopes specifically for bird photography only to be disappointed with speed, sharpness and most of all color integrity. Since investing in the NP-101 all other scopes are buried in my closet."
